POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Employment Counselor plays a key role in fulfilling the organization’s mission by supporting individuals with disabilities in achieving sustainable employment. The counselor works closely with the team leader, fellow employment counselors, and the rest of the staff to reach AIM CROIT’s inclusion and professional development goals.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Service Presentation:
- Present AIM CROIT’s services to job seekers, employers, and partners.
- Conduct recruitment and outreach calls when needed.
Employability Development and Job Integration:
- Assess participants’ professional, academic, and personal backgrounds.
- Identify their needs, barriers, and goals to build personalized action plans.
- Provide individual counseling and tailored support.
- Assist with CV writing, interview preparation, and job searching.
- Lead or suggest workshops and activities that foster motivation and autonomy.
- Help participants find suitable jobs that match their strengths and limitations.
Job Retention:
- Provide ongoing support to help participants maintain employment.
- Communicate with employers to ensure a positive and sustainable integration.
Representation, Partnerships, and Projects:
- Build partnerships and raise employer awareness about inclusion.
- Stay informed about labor market trends.
- Participate in promotional and networking activities.
- Support management in the implementation of special projects.
REQUIRED PROFILE
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in career development, counseling, psychology, sociology, industrial relations, human resources, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of experience in employability or a related area.
- Experience working in a community organization (an asset).
- Customer service experience (an asset).
Knowledge:
- Bilingualism (French and English) required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of or interest in LSQ or ASL (an asset).
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Strong client service orientation and ability to build trust-based relationships.
- Motivation to work with people with disabilities and to specialize in their needs.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Team spirit, autonomy, discretion, and professional ethics.
